Moral dilemma

I was walking down the pavement a short while ago when a cyclist whizzed past, having seemingly swerved a bit to avoid hitting me. I barely had time to think "Well get off the pavement then" before he narrowly avoided a head-on collision with a lamp post by slamming on his brakes. Unfortunately he failed to avoid going into a front-wheelie and collapsing in a heap on the ground.

Well, I felt a bit sorry for him.
