More technology

Stupidly I looked on eBay… and there is a hi-fi separates system that looks like a pretty direct replacement for my stereo that went senile (it comes with the exact same turntable, which clearly I won't need, and come to that I probably don't need new speakers either). But it's pick-up only and it's in St Helens, which isn't exactly near here. Although it could be fitted in with a visit to my parents, whom I wasn't thinking of visiting in the next few weeks — at least until the school holidays anyway. Hmm, decisions.
