mathmo

Late October continued

So then on the 27th bopeepsheep took smallclanger to his granny's, meeting me in town afterwards and being ferried home via the fish&chip shop so that we could go straight back out to see Mitch Benn and the Distractions at the Bullingdon. Since we weren't early, we didn't get a front seat. However, they were very good (although the sound system was playing up and was too loud for my aged ears). A fair amount of it was recycled from his radio shows so I'd heard it before – but it was still funny nontheless – and there was some good new material too. It was the week that John Peel died, so they finished with a rendition of Teenage Kicks, which was a nice touch. (I'd heard the title mentioned many times that week and thought I'd never heard of it – but it was familiar after all, when they started playing it. And even though I know very little of John Peel's Radio 1 show and music, preferring his appearances on Home Truths on Radio 4, it seemed somehow entirely in character and almost brought a tear to my eye.)

Anyway, after that we had to go and fetch smallclanger back and put him straight to bed because it was rather late.
