I lost it again

I was dealt a pair of jacks. The flop missed, but like an idiot I kept on betting. At least I folded in the last round instead of calling an all-in bet. The other guy had a pair of aces (why do I never get that?), and would he just happen to be the opponent with the most money.

So that's $9600 down, $9650 left.

And the amount I have left is the exact amount I took off the chap in hand 16 with my flush. He was dealt 9h 8h this time and was all-in when he called a pre-flop raise. But the board had three clubs and only one heart, and had 8 10 Q but no J, so he was out. That was a tough break.

e: Yesterday morning I had a dream about poker in which I won with four jacks; then I woke up, went to work, and found the email saying I'd been dealt a pair of jacks. I think this may have contributed to my silliness in failing to fold straight away.

Two in one

Some random person is apparently doing an experiment measuring the speed of meme transmission across the blogosphere, by means subtle and electronic. I fell into the trap and have thus replicated it below.

Brief instructions:

  1. Write a post linking to the original one in which you explain the experiment. (All blogs count, be they TypePad, Blogger, MySpace, Facebook, etc.)
  2. Ask your readers to do the same. Beg them. Relate sob stories about poor graduate students in desperate circumstances. Imply the author is one of them. (Do whatever you have to. If that fails, try whatever it takes.)
  3. Ping Technorati.

And, while I'm here, I did the Trustflow II thingy as well.
