Random thought

The mind is apt to wander at times (especially during the journeys to and from work). This morning's random cogitation was this: I wonder how one comes to have a career in digging up roads. Are the hours and the pay any good? It occurred to me that I don't know anyone who visited the careers service at school or at university to be informed that they'd be just the sort of person who would have a long and satisfying career in digging roads up. Do they have job adverts in the paper? "Must have at least two years' experience in holding up a stop/go lollipop." "Ownership of a pneumatic drill not essential."…
