A couple of months or so ago I heard a song on the radio but for some reason
didn't retain many of the lyrics (and the particular bits I did recall I
remembered slightly inaccurately), and I failed to find it on Google the next
day. So, as these things do, the question of what the song was and what it was
about bugged me for a few weeks. Fortunately, about three weeks ago I heard it
again.
Forever
Autumn by Jeff Wayne, Paul Vigrass and Jerry Osborne is best
known in the version sung by Justin Hayward in Jeff Wayne's 1978
project which, for reasons which may or may not become clear, I'll
not name if you don't already know it. However, it was apparently
released as a single in its own right in 1972.
So, ignoring the later project and considering the song as a
self-contained work…
What do you think the song is about?
Someone who died

Someone who had to move away

Someone who broke off a relationship

The rapid approach of cold weather

I've a much better idea…
